? on long line trolling

Do the guys that troll straight out of the back of the boat, keep their poles horizontal or do you set then at an angle to see the bite better?

I have some of both... some rod holders are set at 15 degree angle and some at 40 degree angle. Not to see strikes but to help maintain better line saperation and avoid tangles when reeling fish.
