    Default removing oil injection

Does anyone know what it takes to remove the oil injection on a 1991 40HP johnson? My oil tank busted and im going to take the injection off instead of replacing the tank. any help would be appreciated.

I have a 1994 evinrude 40 HP and the oil injection was disconnected when I got it. It looks like all they did was to plug the tube (under the calin) that the oil was being carried to the motor with. I am no outboard mechanic but it doesn't look like it would be that difficult. You would also want to disconnect the "low oil buzzer" if it has one or it will be constantly going off. IMO you are much better off mixing your oil in your gas that way you know that the motor is getting the oil in the system.\

www.themarinedoctor.com is a great source of info. If you can't find what you need to know just send a message to "TMD" and he'll get back to you within a day or two. I learned A LOT from that site when re-rigging my boat.
