Default what about us land lubbers?

As interesting as it is to read about those who have the higher tech equipment,I am wondering if I'm the only one out here who hasn't graduated up the scale,to the 10 ft bass boat and all the wonderful gadgets that make at least finding them a bit easier.Does anybody actually fish from the bank anymore?what about smaller lakes and ponds? do they not hold any challenges to the modern day fisher man(or woman as far as that goes?)
Still landlocked in Winston Salem North Carolina.:D

I fish from the bank a lot. When I'm not on the bank, I'm often in my float tube. I concentrate on smaller lakes. In waters like that, you avoid a lot of the "boat launch idiots", water skiers, etc. and still catch a lot of fish.

And you can go pretty high-tech with bank gear! :D Bank fishing is the norm in most of the world. If you know where to look, you can find some pretty cool gear.

I do both. I do own a small boat. Its a two seat boat. I do not own a truck so I can not get it to a lake by myself. My buddy owns the truck. The only days I can fish with my buddy is on Saturday. Any other day I fish I am fishing from the shore.

Thanks for the info.I too avoid the bigger waters, just for the reason of avoiding boatatics. If you ever get the chance try fishing the Warner Robins area,or surrounding middle G.a(my old stomping grounds)Lots of nice bank walking areas there.

And I prefer fishing from the bank. Sometimes when down in G.A my brother inlaw and I go out in his bass boat, and shoot the docks for crappie,in some of the larger watersheds down there.

I still fish from the bank occassionally ...

After I've worked off a 12 hour midnight shift....I know a few places where I can reach a brushpile from the bank....

I have a 16' alluminum boat without any of the play toys. I fish from land most of the times. My best spot requires climbing a ledge from the bank and can't be fished from a boat.

As Bob #1 stated I am a 65 year old bank fisherman and proud of it. The problem usually is I have to be home before dark because I do not drive after dark. I have owned the big 17.5 tracker about 20 years ago and caught a ton of crappies. Now I fish for fun, enjoyment, and catch -n- grease.

There are bank fishing opportunities. You just have to find them and get your equipment to the area. I use old luggage carts. Have fun.
