    Default Too many crappie

Large group of us went out this weekend and caught limits of 10"+ crappie two days in a row. There were 9 of us with 37 fish limits both days. Left them biting both days also. They would hit jigs or minnows the same. Water was 35' fish were in about 32' and the bite was extremely light. That's over 600 crappie in two days. Needless to say we had a great time and now have our freezers full of fillets.:D

if they were all over 10 incehs, I wouldn't say there are too many crappie. That sounds amazing. If they were all under 7 inches then I would say too many crappie.

It was a small city lake in south central Oklahoma, a hint would be in the Oklahoma forum.

I cam up with a new technique that killed 'em. I was drop shotting, but with 5 #6 gold hooks 8" apart and the weight 18" below the bottom hook. Then add different color jig bodies nose hooked to the hooks. After you find out what color they want, change all hooks to that color. You will be covering almost 4' of the water column with this rig. We caught doubles and triples all day long. I also use a 10' Wally Marshall pro series rod, that helps tremendously.
