    Default 4# or 6#?

What size line is your favorite? I'm mainly night stalking with 6 lb line but was thinking about trying 4 lbs.

I tend to fish 6 pound test on all my reels. Have tried 4 pound, but as much as I hang up in the thick stuff I tended to lose alot of jigs. Have considered trying 4 pound diameter Spiderwire Fusion this year.

The light line catchs more fish 4lb. But i use 6lb. Only because sometimes i hook unto something other than crappie so i need more power then the 4lb. Going to try some silver thread this year in 6lb. Let u know how i like it.

I use 6 lb. mono. but I am going to try some 2/10 spider wire for fishing in heavy brush if I get hung up hopefully the hook will straighten and I will not have to retie my line.

I use 6# except on my light rod and reel. I use 4# on it for flaot fishing. The cast is smoother with the 4#. Doesnt really matter, just use what you like. Crappie Wisdom does have a point, just in case you nab a cat or big sauger, 6# is better.

I would prefer to use 4#, but I use 6# for the following reasons:

    * Less likely to have to retie on a hookup
    * Less likely to loose a 5 pound thug when they bite which is often in my area
    * More likely to land that state record 5 pound crappie when he comes along this year!

    Default line weight

Most of the time our lake is dingy. When I jig fish tight line over brush #10 lb line. I know some OF's that minnow fish that catch lots of crappie using # 40lb or heavier !

When I use mono, which is seldom, I go with a soft 6# Stren, but I HATE THE MEMORY OF MONO! I only use it in clear water. Almost all of my gear is spooled with SpiderWire Stealth in 10#/2# diameter. It has opened up a new world of sensitivity for me. Mono now feels like a rubber band with all the stretch that's caracteristic of it, I guess I've been spoiled on braid!! :D I've started tieing a florocarbon leader on my Stealth in clear water, and it's working great. It gives me the sensitivity of braid, and the low visibility of florocarbon. Makes a good combination!!!
