I would say 1/32 to 1/16, to say which one to use would depend on the weather I mean what wind conditions do you have for a fall rate, also time of year in spring I would probably be fishing a 1/32 and on a sunny winter day. I will go to 1/16 when the wind really picks up. Even on a cold day with no wind or no sun out vertical jigging and in the summer I will use a 1/16 vertical jigging or throwing at deeper structure on a hot sunny day.

1" is tiny...1/32nd max, likely a 1/64th if I needed something that small.

1/32 with a #6 or even a #8 hook would be good on such a small grub.

1/32 or 1/64 would be my preference for 1 inch grubs. 1/32 or 1/16 would be my preference for 1.5 inch or 2.0 inch grubs. a lot depends on waves, wind and how deep or how fast you want to fish. It also depends on if you are slip floating or tightlining.
