    Default BPS Prolight Spooling question

I need to ask the experts a question.
I have 2 BPS ProLite Finesse Baitcast Reels.
One is on a Browning Boron medium rod.
I'd like to cast 1/16oz jigs small worms, other light baits with it.
How should I spool the reel?
    I have various braids from 10#-50#, viscous 6# cajun6#.
Should I only load say 40yds of 6# for best casting or should I load 40yds backing then the fluorocarbon?
    Also I could load 40yds hi-vis 8# backing then 4# leader.
The weather is too lousy for experimenting.
The boron ML rod and prolite reel is very well suited for crappie fishing.
I just need to get my line right.
    Any suggestion?
    Thanks
    Fin

You could load it it up with some good trilene XL 4# or 6# and just go fishing. That is what I would do .

    Question Say what ????

    You're casting 1/16oz baits with a BAITCASTER ..... SON !!! :p

Seriously, though .... spool the reel with whatever line will qualify for the type of fish/fishing that you'll use it for, the most. Check the specs for how much of what size (# test) line it holds .... then spool on some old/used/seldom used line, until you reach 3/4 full. Tie that line to whatever line you intend to fish with, and finish filling the spool. Reduce the backing line to 1/2 of the spool's capacity, if your casts or depths fished are longer than your "new" line length.
(this is a cost saving tip, only, and doesn't necessarily equate to better casting quality)

As others stated, thats not an outfit for casting jigs that light. You need and openfaced reel and light line 8lb. being the heaviest, to cast jigs at that weight.

I intend to use a thill bobber with the jig. I want to get the setup tuned as well as I can.
For some reason I've never liked open face spinning reels. I over cast or put the jig up in a tree. Changing jig weights and wind throws me off in accurate casting. I spend a lot of time hung up and re-rigging. I suppose I have so much experience with baitcasters and using my thumb to brake the cast that I've never became comfortable with open face spincast.
I also like the balance of the ultralite baitcast. I think the proper size bobber will produce a rig I can be productive with.
    Thanks for your Feedback.

Saw a guy from Alabama that could cast a 1/16 oz jig with an ambassader 4500c 14# line farther than I could with a spinning reel with 6# line. his name was Willard Isbell he did a fishing show years ago with Archie Phillips, first hunting/fishing show around 20yrs ago. I tried it but never had any luck, it was a funny looking cast sorta looked like a hook shot in basketball. he always said he was throwing the line not the jig. but it can be done
