    Default Kentucky Lake worth it?

Good afternoon. I am new to the board, so my apologies for the thread title. PLanning a trip to Kentucky Lake Apr 3rd-7th and was hoping someone could guide me to one of the better Lake Resorts there where the crappie are plenty? I have seen a few, but none have reviews. Any help would be greatly apprecieated!

What part of the lake are you interested in? Do you need a guide and what kind of accommodations are you interested in?

It's a big lake that usually gets divided into south/middle/or north sections. Lake Barkley not quite so much.

looking toward the west or middle. Will be coming from Central Illinois. Don't need a guide, but just some good areas to finish during Apr 3-7. Like to have a cottage, cabin or townhouse on or at least walking distance to the water for some late night catfishing. Thanks for the resorts listed above! I have never been to Kentucky Lake so its all new to me.

I am one of them crazies that goes to KY Lake every year. I go out of Mansard Island boat ramp every April for last 20 years. Even a bass (green carp) angler like me can catch huge crappies out of Big Sandy on Kentucky Lake during April. You will love it unless the wind is blowing 20 mph. Good luck on the wind. Some years I have it made with light winds, but mostly have to deal with 10mph winds. And then sometimes it is 15mph+ and you better stay off the lake. However, there are lots of crappie to be easily caught if you can stay on them.

I would recommend Mansard Island Resort. They have all you need - boat ramp, cabins, marina and boat slips that are sheltered from the wind. Best of all is the location, when you come out of their bay you will be right in the Big Sandy and ready for some great crappie fishing.

I like putting in at Mansard Island also. Sometimes we will stay at FishTale Lodge. It is a nice, affordable place down the road of Mansard. We stay at the KOA campground sometimes which is my favorite. They have little cabins that sleep 5-6 pretty easily for about 80.00 night. We come in from fishing all day and put some meat on the grill outside the cabin and sit around and shoot some bull. To me it is half the fun of the trip. My favorite time of the year.....I can't wait.
