Build a new garage, one just for the boat.Originally Posted by Raintree
I know this is sort of off topic but my boat's to wide for my doors at my new house so I am wanting to knock those down and re-frame the opening with a new solid header and put in 1 large 16' door. Anyone know a good place to buy a new garage door around St louis and is this something you think a weekend handyman (like myself) can install?

Overhead Door Company? I've just seen their trucks- no promises.
I would go with a Clopay. Best warranty in the garage door business and probably the nicest doors. All there doors come on a 2" frame, and there are four basic residential models.
-Model HDG - 2" thick insulated door with steel backing on interior
-Model 2050 - 1 3/8" thick insulated door with steel backing on interior
-Model 183 - 7/8" thick insulated door without steel backing on interior
-Model 75 - noninsulated steel door
all the doors are steel doors, that come in several color options, and can be painted if you like. A 16' door is usually a special order door. But they deliver it straight to your house typically. I think the 2050 is the most bang for your buck... you get an insulated door with a steel backing, a little less price than the HDG model.
Home Depot is the biggest seller of this brand, but other retailers do carry them.
