Sickle Bend Jigs

I have never used Sickle Bend Jigs, was wondering is there an advantage or is it just a style some guy came up with. Are they better than Regular Bend Jigs?

They are super sharp and have a wider gap. I like em!

Don't know if there is a big difference in my catching ratio since switching to sickle hooks, but I would say 90% of the time the hook is right in the top of the mouth, which I like. And have yet to have a fish hooked too deep as well.

They do everything better for me, they dont hang-up in rocks like standard hooks. And as Locator79 said 99% hooked in roof of mouth.

All i have been making is the sickle hooks. They are super sharp is what i like about them. The number size is different than Eagle Claw drop down a size for the sickle hook. Cub48

I agree with everyone so far but will add they have a tendency to bend a little easier than most. Shouldn't be a problem if you are using a net but I wouldn't lift a big one in the boat or it could straighten out on you. Another plus is you can sometimes get it to straighten when hung in heavy brush, then you can bend it back.

I like the wide gap & how sharp they are out of the box. Inexpensive. Have to admit it makes for a cool looking jig.

I find no advantage in them. The hooks I buy "GAMAKATSU" are every bit as sharp if not sharper than a sickle. Not near as weak either. If you like to be able to straighten out your hook. Then the Sickle is for you.

I use the #2 Gamakatzu's a lot too and admit you can sometimes fish it all day and it's still good to go. Very sharp and very strong. Expensive, but like PIGINTHEPEN, I'm willing to spend a little extra money for quality. About 5 times as high as regular wire hooks like Eagle Claw & sickle hooks

What brand ya'll using? With PP line I cant straighten them out? That's why I started using them, Gamakatsu's straightened out on hooksets!!!
