    Question Shellcrackers


    Could someone please tell me what a shellcracker is? I have seen alot of people talk about them on this site.Can you also tell me what they look like?

    All of the fish below are shellcrackers except the one in the upper right. That's a quarter for size comparison.

    You will also hear them refered to as redear sunfish.

    also they are referred to as Redear sunfish in some states. in some areas they grow over 3 pounds.

    Yep, those are females on the left and a male on the right. That top right fish is just a bull gill. Those came from KY lake.
