Spray PAM cooking oil on there. It will work for a good while before you have to re-apply it.

wd-40 will work and I would think it would scare the fish due to the foul smell but I read somewhere a while back where it is an attractant, not sure about that one.

WD will not scare the fish away, years ago we used to spray it on chicken breast and wear out the channel cats.

change poles to one with bigger eyes, or tap often and a little reel magic works well.

and we have a winner. barry g, did you happen to know a guy from fenton, mo by the name of lee james? an under cover game warden for the mo. dp of con. i took him hunting once knowing what he was. warned everyone around about him and he still caught 16. i understand later that he may have lost his job. it was an interesting hunt.
