No a stupid question is one that is not asked.
Some boats have a manual pump and then some have a auto and a manual. Look on the console for a switch that is marked belge pump and turn it on should hear it run.
Mine is a auto or manual when the water leve gets up from rain or water coming over the transom. A float will kick it on and it pumps the water out by its self.

summer of 04 i saw a guy who was standing on the front of his boat, thought he was , green carp fishing after seeing him get further and further on the tip of boat I figured he was in some trouble by the time i got there he had about 3 feet of boat out of the water. his pump would not keep up with his leak, luckily all ended safe. he lost 1 battery when it rolled over but not his life, he did not even think of putting a life jacket on
