    Hi Folks,

I am from the Sebring, FL area of Highlands County so I will probably be posting mostly in the Florida "Crappie" (chuckle) forum. I never really knew what that was until someone told me that was the Northern name for what we call Speckled Perch (Specks) or Calicos. I still don't think (probably never will) of such a pretty fish with that horrible Northern name . Anyway, all my life I have never known them as anything other than Specks and probably never will. I'm a native Floridian. I fly fish and use light spin tackle for Specks and bream (and other warmwater fish). Bream being mostly Bluegill and Shellcrackers (Redear Sunfish).

    Welcome Robert!

I prefer to pronounce it Crop ee - unless they aint biting then I call them Crap ee. They have a variety of names depending on the region. No matter what you call them they are fun to catch and good to eat!
