Spider rigging 9"-12"
Trolling 12"-24"
What distance does rod tip need to be off the water spider rigging? Also what does it need to be long lining off the side of boat? I am using 14' BnM pst for spider rigging and 14, 10, and 7 when long lining off the side. Thanks!

I run my when Spider rigging 6-8" and when longlining as close as I can get it 2-3" sometimes they might be in the water with waves.
slow trolling, some call it spider rigging, what ever is easy for you and the set up you have, I keep mine almost level, and sometimes dip them down a bit,
long lining straight out from the holder.
I like my tips as close to the water as I can get them. Generally about 6".

I don't think that it really matters from what I've seen. You want them low enough that the wind isn't blowing your line around and you want them high enough that waves aren't dunking your tips. Other than that, it's all personal preference. The fish don't seem to care.
Like one of the other fellers said, just out of the water.
Not only so you can see the bite but when you do get one you
pull it up quickly for a good hook set without having to reel.
Here's a couple of fellas that seem to know what they're doin' since
they win almost every tourney we have.
