Lake Weiss - Crappie

http://www.jrsmarina.com/fishing.asp ...... and check it again before you go, in case it gets updated. Make special note of the fact that Weiss Lake is 5 FEET below normal pool -- this means "stay in the channels, when running the lake"

"It is a violation of Alabama law for any person to transport more than one day's creel limit of game fish beyond the boundaries of this state."
It is a violation of Alabama law for any person to fillet a fish while fishing, or to possess fillets of fish while on public waters except when fish are being prepared for immediate cooking and consumption; provided however, that fish may be drawn or gutted with heads left attached.

Crappie fishing is excellent. The cold slowed down the shallow fish in the upper lake but the deeper fish in the lower lake around the Yellow creek and Bay Springs area are still biting great! On a trip Sunday the 12th it never got above 36 degrees but we still caught 59 keepers. Slow trolling JR's Jigs in red, black, Chartreuse and black, pink, chartreuse was the key to catching fish. The fish are holding 7 to 10 feet deep in 15 to 25 feet of water.
