    Thumbs down Meldahl Sauger update.....

Went with a friend of mine to meldahl for sauger today... Didnt even have one bite!! Wonder what happened to that place. Ever since the river came up a few weeks ago that place has been really bad. Weird to because around the lock approaches Ive never Seen so many shad on the hb before. I would thing they would be there.

Let me ask some of you a question...... I see some of you have also had little luck down there. You figure they have moved back down river or just not biting. Those fish are so hard to mark on a graph hugging the bottom so tight some times Its hard to mark them on sonar.........

I agree. Why would they want to bite as much food as there is. I have never seen so many dead shad as I did the last time I was there.

If there's a shad die off going on then the fish are stuffed. That's what happened here last winter too. Kinda makes fishing rough for awhile.:o

I think some days the bulk of the fish are up by the dam. The problem with meldahl is unless the fish are out near the "wall" you just can't get access to them.
It sucks on the years they stay hidden but I think it's good they have an off year every once in awhile. It gives them little boogers a chance to grow.
