    Default New Years Eve Crappie

We were pessimistic about going out on the lake today after the storms went through late last night and the wind was supposed to be pretty strong too. We went anyway, and early in the morning it was pretty decent, the wind wasn't bad and the fish were biting. We fished brush piles in 12 to 16ft. We used minnows and jigs and both produced well. We did good with 1/8 pink heads and Bobby Garlands baby shads in chartreuse and bone white, licorice, and Yum beaver tails in black and chartreuse. The crappie bit real good most of the morning until the wind got bad. After that it was a real job staying on the fish. We caught 41 keepers 10 inches or bigger and at least another 50 or more throwbacks. We caught a bunch of throwbacks that were just under 10 inches. The wind finally aggravated us enough to give it up, but we sure enjoyed our time on the water today..

Great job. Now all you need is a sharp knife, and some potatoes for a good old WV fish fry. Enjoy, and thanks for sharing the pictures!! Tom.
