Default Looking for a new Spinning Reel

I'm looking for the best spinning reel I can buy for $60 or less. That would include Okuma Hardstone, Pflueger President, Shimano Sedona, etc.

I'm going to put it on a new 7 foot BPS Micro Lite IM6 graphite rod. Will probably spool it with 4 or 6 lb Hi Vis.

Which reel would you buy? Why?

IMHO, I would go to someplace where most or all of these are available and handle as many of them as possible. All are slightly different and one will "speak" to you, and want to take the ride home with you.

Hard to beat a shimano! I have had Okuma and Pflueger and plenty others with some good and some bad, but have never had any issues with a shimano product.

Shimano is all I own....just can't beat it for value......from 50# braid for bass or 6# mono for sacs....I like the 2500 series with the quick release....$30.....

Shimano Spirex 1500 front drag. I like the quick fire feature for one-handed casting.

Gotta go with the Shimano, great reel and they really stand behind their products. the only thing I'd suggest is make sure to take the rod with you if you're going to the store so you can try it on the rod to check it's balance. Nothing worse than an unbalanced outfit.

No... Nope I'm not gonna sit here for a half hour giving reel advice on Christmas Eve... oops... Christmas I mean. While I was writeing Christmas it became Christmas. Anyhoo, there are a bunch of recent post that answer this question. Maybe tomorrow when I'm sick of my family I'll give it a go.

I have had good performance with both Shimano and Pflueger. I would probably buy a Pflueger or a Gander Mountain reel manufactured by Pflueger.
