    Default Trolling motor

I traded for a new to me boat and it is way bigger than what i am use to. It is a 22' deck boat. It has a trolling motor but i don't think it is going to be big enough. It is 24 volt but i don't think if is but 65lb thrust. If anyone knows where a good used one for sale or trade is please let me know.thank you

minn-kota says 2lbs thrust per 1ft of boat therefore, according to them 44lbs thrust would be enough. I've got 40 on a 17 ft and it's ok until I get into a lot of wind, then I wish I had more.
65 should be enough, but deck boats are wider than most bass type boats so wind could be a real problem. JOM

I have a buddy with that kind of boat, he has a 36v 101lb motor on his.

In my opinion, all boats come from the dealers with under powered trolling motors, unless you specify an upgrade.

I think that this has happened in this case. I just don't know if the one I have will be big enough to handle that big of boat.

I think you can have too little thrust dont think you can EVER have too much. I agree with freelay all boats come under powered, just bought a new 18ft smoker craft has 46 lb thrust will upgrade as soon as possible

I'll agree with that. Get that motor as big as you can afford with variable/digital speed controls. Might come in handy if the big gun gets finicky.
