Default Does going to bigger get bigger fish?

I have been trying everything I have in my boxes to get the big one. I spend at least a hour each time I go out trying new water and I am also switching out the colors and anything else I have laying around in the boat to help me get the big one. I have started to note that some simple things that I have, that are old and big are bringing some bigger fish to the boat for me. Is it something old that looked new to them or is it bigger is better?

I rarely use anything bigger than 2" on loz,the 3" slab slay-r will catch big fish at times but i prefer mid sized baits.

Most of the good tourney fisherman i know fish a bigger jig 2 3/4" plus. Bigger baits can produce bigger fish. I know my big fish many times come off my 2" Beavertails. Keep in mind that big can be too big and you have to down size based and weather and times of the year. Plenty o' two pounders have been caught on a very small fly size baits. In the Walleye ciruit they say to match that hatch. Fish big until the bait fish hatch and start to get up to 3/4" and then down size for that period until they get over 1 1/4"

i usually go the rule of small in spring and early summer 2 inch and under and larger jigs in the fall and winter because of the size of the shad they are chasing are usually 3" or bigger in the winter. I love 2" wolly beavertails and 3 inch slab slayers this time of year..........good fishing......charlie

After seeing 3 or 4 inch shad spit up in my live well by the crappie placed in there (and not extra large crappie at that) I no longer worry about the larger baits not catching crappie. In working water where walleye have been caught I usually have a larger bait on the lower jig on my tandem jigs in hopes of picking up a tasty eye.

The biggest surprise I more often find, when using larger baits for larger fish, is how often I will catch a 5 or 6 inch crappie on my larger bait.
