Was just wondering what type of jig body you perfer? I have prodomently used plastics. I've tried hair but haven't had much luck. Is there a certain time of the year or other factor that makes hair better than plastic? Thanks for the help?

Hair jigs work all year but I use them mostly from April though October. I use them because you can catch more with them before they wear out. It is all in the presentation and depth. At least that is how it is at the lake that I fish. Out of the 5700 keepers we caught last year, 5500 came on marabou jigs from Walmart.

I prefer plastic because you can change colors very quickly. Only in the dead of winter do I use Maribou and then it is an 100th ounce trout jig in black.

I use both, but when I tie jigs they have chenille body and marabou tail. I buy a lot of the original roadrunners and they have chenille body and marabou tails.

I also like tubes, especially blue and white tubes.

I use hair jigs only when tipped with a tasty little live shiner . All other times I use soft plastics.

There is another alternative, its called craft fur, and also polar hair, its better than maribou.I usually use plastics, but there are times when the synthetic hair works better, like very cold water, or finicky fish, it comes in a lot of colors, is easy to tie, and it stands up better than feathers. We use it a lot down here for a style of fishing for small mouth bass, its called float n fly.

I use soft plastic jigs that some friends of mine and I make ourselves. We catch more fish on these than we have on ROADRUNNERS or any other "haired" jigs. Also have not used minnows in about 2 years.

the main thing that works around here is tube jigs. canyon plastics are my favorite jigs. hair jigs can work good to.

I use plastics now. I used to tie on deer hair once in a while but mainly plastics back then too. I've never liked the way maribou sticks to itself in the water.
