Dennis and I braved a VERY low tide to access a favorite canal Sunday AM - and you should have seen the reds blowing out as we were blastinig through the shallow section at the canal's mouth!
Ended up catching 35 of them and two flounder on flies - mostly gold. Only two fish were short, most of the rest were between 22 and 25 inches. And the wind howled!
The next morning Durel and I headed back, and by nine had our limits - mine on flies, his on a spinnerbait. Then we moved to another canal where I could set up so that he could try to fly fish. It worked out well - his first ever on a fly was 21.5 inches! Then he caught three more!
Oh, the total for that day was 24. Pretty good, considering the young gale we were again fishing in!
And yeah, I am certain that most of the participants in the events (This one for sure) is still feeling a bit smug about it all! :D
