    Default Decade Debacle

As the result of some well-intended advice, Durel and I made a speck-run to Lake Decade on Wednesday, arriving to find the forecast 5 to 10-knot easterly already at 15 and with a lot of north in it. Our first drift resulted in a rat red. Our last drift - a fishless 2 1/2 hours later - resulted in a nice bass!!
Then we picked up the boat and drove down to the end of the road, launched again, and took off to Lake Mechant. There, in five hours of heavy-hitting some semi-sheltered shorelines with spinnerbaits and popping rigs, we caught nine reds (All but one short), one fair flounder, one mediocre speck, and one nasty drum. :p
It was a LONG drive home!
    Pete

Sounds like a great time out on the water. Sorry to hear that the drive home was so long.

Pete, sounds like you need a better weatherman, and maybe a better advisor. (Did I say that)

PPG, the wind was really too stiff to be able to fish efficiently. I never saw another fish caught - but there were some other folks fishing, so I guess there are specks in the lake.
And I'm glad I got, uh, "prodded" into going! It's been a while.
You and Linda pass a Happy Thanksgiving.

Thanks for not being too hard on me Pete. That's the one bad thing about that lake, when the wind blow a little it gets rough a lot. I surprised you didn't do better in Mechant, I heard some better reports from there. I guess it's like they say "they were biting yesterday".

I expected a breeze on Saturday but it was a late show and from the wrong direction... Can't complain. Had enough to fry for the game with a plenty left over.
The fish are biting somewhere and here I am on the computer again...

Sorry to hear that you didn't load the boat with them, but atleast you got to get out on the water.
You can't fish with a hung line!
