I've never seen a data center or host shut off service prior to the month of pay running out, unless noted in the contract. As with any big tech company, if payments are not made service is discontinued. I've seen service shut off to a firms 1000 mobile phones in the blink of an eye with no notice period, power shut off to racks of equipment, etc when there has been billing snafu's. Typically doesn't mean they are a bad company, they have bills to pay just like everyone else for the services they provide to you and other customers, not to mention it's easier to shut the customer down instead of leaving them up and trying to collect on billing.
