Default Question about fishing the ohio river?

I have fished eastfork my whole life. I have not tried the river and want to give it a try. Does anybody have any advice about where to fish and what depths the crappie are at this time of year. I appreciate any help in this matter and look forward to hearing what you guys have to say.

tanners and hogans are great when the water temp gets in the low 40's..it is hit and miss right now but if you catch it on a low pressure and warm front you can pound big fish.maysville is right 2 to 3 foot deep..a slab at ef is a regular fish at the river..good luck.

Hey maysville when you idle out of locust and you turn right to go up river and that creek on your left about 1/4 to 1/2 mile up, is that chilo. I fish it but it is pretty shollow. I always get bullskin and chilo mixed up.

Let me ask you creek fishermen a question...... Do you prefer the creeks that have some depth to them or do you like the shallower creeks such as bullskin???? Maybe it depends on the time of year???

For some reason I'm catching them in the deeper creeks at the moment. Sometimes it's the other way.
