    Big Fat Honkin' GILLS ?

I love to target big 'gills and I'll share a few of my good spots in exchange for a few of yours if you'll PM or email me...or heck, just post it up, cuz actually a little extra pressure on the 'gills is usually good for the population.
Some of the MDC lakes/ponds have the ability to produce MONSTER 'GILS but with the gas prices what they'll be this spring who can afford to go pond hoppin' all over the state ?

I love to flyfish for them and usually that's the best method to catch the big boys, but when they get close to heavy cover a 9-10ft. jiggin'pole with a Southern Pro Tiny Worm on a 1/32 weedless head is the BOMB.

So whaddya say? let's hear some 'Gillin' talk for a bit.

They say if gills grew to 10 pounds, they would be unlandable- I have to agree! I have caught a few on my fly-rod and they are a much better fighter than any trout. The gills are the fish that gave me the love of fishing when I was a kid. I would love to know of a few lakes to fly fish for some on. Are poppers the bait of choice for fly-fishers?

The Guy B Park wildlife area, just north of Platte City, is being managed for trophy bluegill. Has anyone tried it? I was walking around the lake when I noticed a crew from the Conservation Dept. electroshocking. Said they weighed a bass at 6 1/2 lb.

Are boats allowed on this body of water? Where is it located exactly?
When in doubt, set the hook.

Guy B Park is just north of Platte City on hwy 371. They do allow boats but it is electric motor only.

Nice looking fly, Fishinwrench, is that a bead weight behind the eyelet? I tie some ants that are effective for 'gills when I get a chance to use them, and several emergent patterns I use also. That's a healthy 'gill, we seldom see them that big in LA!! I'll post a pic on the ants for you to see if I can find the pic.
