I never use scent on my baits unless they are added when I buy them. I use scent on the ones I make simply because it helps keep them from sticking and drying out in the packages. I use anise oil in the bags of the ones I make, however it is only for packaging and not really to attract more fish. However some people will say anise works well.

I do not pour any plastics. Wish I had the skill set that Snake River has. Those that I have are kept in a bag with a little annise oil that you get in the grocery spices section and a little cod liver oil. They will keep your plastics soft and give off a little fishy smell. I keep them in my fishing vest pocket out of the sun. They seem to do better in my pocket than when I kept them in the tackle box. Why?? I have no earthly idea.
