Three. One for each battery.
For a 12 volt system with one cranking battery and 2 trolling batteries do I need a 2 or 3 bank charger?
I just bought a new Stinger 175 and am in the process of getting it rigged the way I want. I know I will have many more questions.
Thanks!

Thanks. I should have mentioned that the trolling batteries are wired in parallel. Does that fact change anything?
if your trolling batteries are hooked parallel for twelve volts and not in series
for twenty four volts, all you need is a 2 bank charger, but make sure that
you purchase one that has a minimum of 10 amps per bank. anything less will
shorten the life of your batteries.
If you do buy only a 2 bank charger it will take longer to get you trolling batterys charged back up. Buy the 3 bank charger worth the extra money.

Well this is bad timing for this thread as I am doing the same thing. Using 2 batteries but still 12 volts. I just mounted a new onboard charger last weekend and is a 2 bank charger at 8 amps. But I am hooking a bank to each trolling battery, none to the cranking battery. Hope this will help charge my batteries faster.

Is this that New Lowe Crappie Boat? What size motor did you buy? Let us know how you like the boat after you use it for a while.Originally Posted by jawmaw

I have two trolling batteries and one cranking battery and I use a dual bank 10 amp/bank on board charger. I don't connect to the cranking battery because I don't have any problems keeping it charged, but if I am not going fishing for a while I disconnect the hot wire from the cranking battery to avoid a slow trickle running it down. Some electronic equipment (Like Sonar units) state that they still draw small amounts of current when turned off. Hope this helps.
