Default bad signs for crappie fishing?

just wondering, turned some hounds loose this am, they couldn't get a bunny going, took the rod and was at the pond, couldn't get a bite, tried jigs, mini rapala, put a crappie nibble on, still nothing, tried for an hour, dogs wouldn't run, fish wouldn't bite, noticed this several times, just wondering about them old saying, and if they really have any effect on our fishing/catching ratio.

I turned the girls loose this morning and they went right on the hunt. Less than 10 mins later they were running a bunny. Watched it run across a corner of the yard and both girls were 3 or 4 secs behind. They chased that bunny for at least 30 mins. Now they are both laying in the flower bed in the sun. Thanks again, Michael. They are a great addition to the family.

If the cattle are laying down, the fish aren't biting is what I have always been told.

Always heard that from my Grandpa. He also said that applied to hunting as well, meaning that if the cattle were lying down the game wasn't stirring. Lots of sayings the old timers had, like, wind from the East is good for neither man nor beast. Wind from the South has rain in it's mouth

East wind today guys..... ducks stopped moving as soon as that wind switched out the east and it sounds as though the fish did as well.
