Mine would be a 5'6" lite action with a Daiwa SS700 reel and 4lb mono (or 6lb braid).
.....which would you choose? length, action, etc.
Mine would be a 5'6" lite action with a Daiwa SS700 reel and 4lb mono (or 6lb braid).
Mine would be a 5' Ultra light, Ugly stik with 4LB Mr.Crappie line.
wally marshall 9' signature IM8 with a Flueger President and Viscous or WM 6 pound flo.yellow.
10' Sam Heaton, and a box full of jigs. Thats all I need.
In the previous threads like this the GLoomis 7ft UL or lite usually gets the most votes, but I think that rod is too expensive when you could get 2, 3 or even 4 rods that are equally as good that perform exactly the same. It may be the perfect light rod, but I don't think there are too many crappie anglers willing to shell out over $300 for a single rod.
That being said I do prefer that length, action and weight for just one rod. 7ft, 2 piece, lite, fast action. I wish someone made a split grip designed rod in that size with quality blanks that didn't cost $300 bucks, but I have never seen one I would buy. I must also say I am a big fan of St Croix rods. I think thier american made blanks are better than Gloomis and rod for rod they are less expensive. If they made the Avid series rods in split grips they would be the ultimate rod for almost any application. As they are they are awesome. I used to like the Premiere rods, but I think their blanks are dated now for what they cost. If St Croix split the grips and lowered the price of the Avid to around $130, I would use only that rod and I think it would be one of the best selling rods in the world.
My main 3 rods I use now are all Gander Mountain IM8 7 foot rods in lite, ML and MD. I know the guys there and got them all for $50 each. They are the equivalent or better of many more expensive rods I have had in the past and the blanks are made by St Croix. They currently sell for $60 online but don't have the 2 piece in the action's lengths I have. They may carry more variety in the store though.

Good things come to those who bait.
BnM Sam Heaton Super Sensitive 12' I recently ordered a Cherokee Rod from Leyland. I hope that when I get it, that it becomes my Number 1.
I'm sick of following my dreams. I'm just going to ask them where they're goin' and hook up with them later.
7'6" light action ozark,i'd miss my 10' jigpole and my 6' shooter but the 7'6" is a great all around rod.
