That is a bone-fide good-un.....looks kinda like a hybrid, black crappie body with white crappie markings.

    Great fish!
We do not want the gift of a fish; neither do we expect a lesson on fishing; what we direly need is a chance to fish

Interesting looking like Bugs says, got the head and mouth of a full fledged black but the vertical bars are throwing me. Thanks for sharing, what a beaut!

Great fish, Sparky? Didja put a tape to her? Or a scale? How'd the rest of the day go for you?

Fish was 15 1/4 long..You could have fit a tennis ball in its mouth..We argued for 10 minutes if it was a black or white..Im thinkin a hybrid also..The back was 3" wide..

It is a hog for sure. Shaped like a football which is more like a black also short and thick. But looks to have the markings of a white crappie. I guess when it get back from the taxidermist you can count the spines in its fin to be sure what it is.
