Lake Shawnee

I fished Lake Shawnee with my dad today. We caught between 15 and 20 crappie with some wipers, and a couple largemouth mixed in. All fish were caught along the weedline, near banks that sloped quickly into deeper water. Some fish were taken on a jig + beetle spin, but most fish were caught on jig only.

We're planning on fishing Clinton next weekend, in hopes of getting some larger crappie. We're both unfamiliar with the lake. Hopefully we can find some fish...

My dad and I ended up going to Lake Shawnee today, instead of Clinton. The fishing was pretty slow. We ended up with 11 crappie, a smallmouth, a walleye, a couple bluegill, a wiper, and a channel cat. All fish were caught on jigs, and all fish were caught near banks that sloped pretty quickly into deeper water (between 8 and 15 feet). The shad were out thick. There were many schools on the surface, and we saw a lot of schools on the sonar. It was a great day to be on the water, and we had a lot of fun.
