    Default Fishing 10-5-10

I went out on Tuesday with my wife and didn't do to bad. We stopped to get some minnows and they was all out of minnows and so was everyone else around the area. We had a very nice week-end, weather wise, so no minnows until Thursday afternoon. We put the boat in and run to the dam area. I put on a 1-1/16th oz red head with the tan paddle tail body on my wifes rod and I rigged up 3 other rods with a 1-1/16th oz Chartruese head and chartruese maribou body, and a 1-1/16th oz lead head with a black and Chartruese body, and then I tied on a red head 1/8th oz head on a white creature. We caught fish on all the jigs but the main one was the one my wife had on. It worked all day and I was switching around with the other 3 to keep in the fish. We trolled in 14-17 fow and kept the baits close to the bottom. The water was 61 degrees over most of the lake.
We talked to a fisherman coming off the lake and he said he didn't even get a bite all morning. My wife got a crappie on her first cast and then we started trolling back and forth across the front of the dam and was picking up several fish on each pass. I was narrowing the strike zone down when another boat that had been watching us catch fish came running in and cut me off and dropped an anchor where we was catching the most fish. I told him that we was trolling throught there and he said he was fishing there so we moved to another spot and didn't get anything there so moved again and got right back into them and picked up the Walleye and the bluegills too.
We ended up with 42 fish all together. 30 Crappie, 11 bluegill, and one Walleye. Not to bad for a day when no one was catching anything. EB

Don't you hate it when loser's cut you off? Why do people think that it is a good idea and acceptable to take over somebody's spot?

Never fought over a spot before. It is annoying though.

This is my number one pet peave. I think the kind of people that do this are one notch lower than whale poop. Unfortunately my temper gets in the road when I am by myself and neither one of us would fish that spot, guaranteed. However 99% of the time the wife is with me and cooler heads prevail.
