    Default Crappie tackle/stuff box

Just wondering what you guys use as your crappie box? I have always just used a few clear tray style boxes, but thought there might be something out there worth taking a look at?

Thanks, and fish like your hungry.

I've got a couple of the older style open belly tackle boxes that have the fold out trays. They fit well in the hold of the boat next to the rods and they stay tucked under the deck. I wouldn't be using this setup if it weren't for that though since they tend to get quite messy with the overflow of tackle.

I have a small bag with 3600 Plano boxes for crappie, and then larger 3700 boxes in the boat with general fishing gear and stuff for other species. If I'm crappie fishing in another boat, leaving the bass stuff out makes a bigger 3700 size bag work for everything.

For keeping my jigs untangled I got some plastic boxes from Wal Mart and glued peices of swimming noodles in the bottom. I can stick the hooks in the noodles and they stay there.

I have both 3600 and 3700 Plano boxes. I've tried a lot of different kinds of boxes, but any I buy nowadays have real hinges and latches, not skinny sections of plastic that will break on a cold day. I leave a lot of my gear in the shed cuz there wouldn't be room for me in the boat if I carried it all. Years ago I scrounged a milk crate that holds 6 gallon jugs. I routed off some of the plastic on one of the long sides and mounted a strip of oak, and screwed a piano hinge to that. This let me put a 1/2" plywood lid on it and keep anything loose from blowing out. While it was in my Jon boat I even had a cheap plastic swivel chair on top and put it in front of the rear bench seat. This has been the most versatile tackle box I could have ever come up with. Most of my Crappie gear stays in a compartment in the boat. When I might do other species I just put the crate with the 3700 series boxes in and I'm set. I'll try to post a pic later on, too late now.

I think Harbor Freight stocks just went up.
