X2 on the Sam Heaton. Lots of folks have different ideas on what kind of rod they want so try to handle as many as you can find before laying down the dollars. I have several BnM and like them all, good customer service too.

keep asking, and if you know someone who has long rods, try them out, takes awhile but when the lookin is over you will be happier you took your time and got a rod or rods you can use without problems.

Ozark rods by Tony Edgar are my favorite all around!

I love my 10' Sam Heaton, I can fish with it all day, it is the best long pole I have ever had in my hands. I really don't spider rig, so can't help you there, but I don't see why could not use one for the other.

I agree with Locator I carry 2 10' and 2 12' Wally Marshall signature series and can use them for dipping or spider rigging.
