    Default ? depthfinder on pontoon

New to the site. I have been reading for a long time have heard a lot of good info. THANKS! I want to put a depthfinder on the front of a pontoon an do not want to mount the tranducer on the trolling motor . I do not leave it on all the time. I have thought about a smart cast portable unit an just hang the tranducer on the light rod at night. But I do not know how well they would work. Thanks for any help .

    Hey Tightline Fever:

Have you checkd out this type of mount?

Looks like it or something similar would work for what you want to do. The smartcast may work but I think you would get a much better picture of what is under you if the transducer was secured and not bobbing about. Also - as I understand it - the battery in the transducer is not replaceable so you have to buy a new one when the battery dies.
