Biggest crappie
Hello ohio crappie members. I have an interesting question for u. Whats the biggest size crappie u caught in ohio? What were u using minnow jig, and location of the fish?
Me my biggest went for 14inchs.:D I caught that bad boy when i was 13 years old. Fishing with my dad in his boat at o shay. Vertical presentation was used with minnows. Never will forget how fast the line was running out from the boat when the slab hit. Been hooked on crappies ever since. Share ur big crappie story with us.

15.5 in white and hate to admit it but it was while catfishing, using a 4-5 in chub. At Dillon Lake at night.

16 inch white crappie. Caught on a 2in. white grub with a spinner from a pond.
Minnow
15.5 inch white crappie caught it last spring at little clark lake with a minnow under a bobber early in the spring.

I didn't catch it myself, and I had to promise not to give out the details; but it was just shy of 22".(over 21 ½")
The guy doesn't want his "home lake" swamped so he's keeping it quiet.

Anyone else know of a truly gargantuan crappie specimen someone is hesitating to get mounted?
It would stand to reason that there has to be more out there.

It was well past the state record for a crappie in Ohio.
My largest so far and at least got me a Fish Ohio pin was a 13 1/2 at Acton. I think it was caught on a 1/32 oz chart head with a YUM micro grub, but I'd have to check my notes. Second largest crappie for was on a Rat-L-Trap shad pattern on a farm pond. - Roberta

The biggest I had seen prior to that one was a 16 ¼" crappie at a tourney weigh-in. There was also a 16" one weighed in at the same tourney.
And I recognize that there is a HUGE difference between the lengths here.
