    Default Strengths and needs improvement

What are areas in your fishing that you consider strengths and areas that could use work?mine are....

    Strengths
    tightlining with a jigpole
    shooting docks
    spider rigging
    unconventional seasonal patterns
    shallow water
    docks
    casting over brush/bank
    finding fish
    hooking the light biters
understanding weather patterns and the effect on the bite
    always wanting to learn

    Needs work
    pulling cranks
    unfamiliar water
the right tree on a lake full of em
    clear water
    patience x10
milk runs when i'm on em
These are some of my strengths and weaknesses, maybe this could help all of us in the future by pairing up with or asking questions of someone that has good knowledge in an area you're lacking.

    Default Excellent post Bugs

I would have to say that I have very few strengths at crappie fishing.
Those I feel most confident in are:
    Crankbaits
    Slow trolling
    Dipping.

The areas I need to improve

Getting more time to fish with all of my buddies. I can never seem to fish with everyone I want too.

I definitely want to do more dock shooting.

No matter how many fish I fillet, I can't do it fast enough. Not near as fast as some of you all.

+ slow trolling (not spider rigging)

    dipping trees
    finding good fishing holes
    new water doesn't bother me
teaching someone else how to do my way
    catch on to other ways

_ to mouthy on the water

stay to long in one place
    leave to early
    arrive to late

    My strengths are:
    docks are my specialty
    trees
    casting brush piles

ones i want to learn more about are:
    trolling jig
    trolling crank baits
which tree is the right tree
looking at a map on a new lake and deciding where to fish first.
fishing with other people to learn new techniques

When you guys troll crank baits, how many poles do you have out at a time?

I have to many areas to improve on and not many strengths . But thinks to the people on here I've been getting better.I will say that finding the right tree is hard because it seems to change day to day.
May all your live wells be full.

Great thread Jamie. I think the number one on anyones list should be boat control or positioning. It's one that I think I am strong. But once you see someone who is really good at it you will then rethink it. I have heard guys talk about how strong Richard is at this. Jim has told me in 20 to 25 mph winds and he can hold you on a cedar and you never have to move your rod tip. The Truman guys better all say dipping is one of their strengths. I feel I am pretty good at spider rigging. Cranks is one I have been working on a lot this summer. Would love to go with some of the guys from Grenada, Enid and Arkabutla to learn more about it. I have learned a lot from guys on this site and hope that I have helped others out as well. Would be a good thread to swap out some trips. Dipping trips on Truman for a dock shooting trip on LOZ. Crankbait trips for brushpile trips. Things along that line. Lots to be learned from guys on here.

Keeping a open mind and learning new ways would help me.

Eek! Well, my biggest strength I would have to say is casting to brush piles and verticle jigging brush piles. I cut my crappie fishing teeth on Pomme doing that and got pretty good at it. I've recently gotten better at dipping trees on Stockton and Truman and really enjoy fishing that way. I've never tried trolling or any of those type methods so that would obviously be a huge weakness as well as spider rigging. I watched a lot of people this spring especially at the Crappie Masters on Stockton this spring spider rigging and man were they catching the fish when I couldn't buy one.

Get on upnhere next spring and I will take you spider rigging pvasst1. It is a lot of fun and addictive. Be prepaired to spend more money for rod racks and trolling rods.
