Default Will lead sinkers, bullets, shot, and jigs be BANNED??

Here's a very bad idea getting traction inside the Beltway.

The "Center for Biological Diversity" (tree huggers) is petitioning the EPA to ban lead bullets and shot (as well as lead sinkers for fishing) under the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA). Although EPA is barred by statute from controlling ammunition, CBD is seeking to work farther back along the manufacturing chain and have EPA ban the use of lead in bullets and shot because non-lead alternatives are available. Seems like this has been going on awhile. Lead shot for waterfowl hunting has been banned since Moses wore short pants. Ask AC, he knows.

Also, lead shot for flyfishing in Yellowstone National Park was outlawed.

The C.c rules apply to politics, not legislation and rulemaking. In this thread, we're discussing rules that would have a direct negative impact on fishing. If you pour jigs, sinkers, or any other terminal tackle, these rules will shut you down.

I'll just start using gold. I believe it's as dense as lead.

...and with a spot price of $1,240 per oz. of gold, 1/16 oz jigs will cost $77.50 each (plus the cost of the colored hook.) Maybe you could paint the head gray to match the lead ones?

If they knew how many I've lost in Lee Lake and Briery Creek, the ban would be retroactive, starting immediately! OH, Lake Conway, Arkansas prolly tops the list.
