I have not fished either one but we have some members down that way who can point you in the right direction. Welcome to the site from Truman lake.
Heading there in middle of Sept. Never been just wandering what its like for crappie. Or is Wappapello a better bet. We will be staying at Clearwater with relatives. Not looking for spots/honey holes, just a general idea of what to expect. Thanks

You can catch crappie in Clearwater. The Webb Creek area is probably your best bet. They run on the small side. You can catch nicer fish at Wappapello though due to the size limit.

have never been to clearwater
wappapello you can catch some decent fish but you have to go through a lot of short fish to find em.
if you minnow fish try the rosie reds they sell at the local bait shops last year we caught more and the bigger fish on them compared to regular minnows
also b carefull and watch out from stumps and mud flats if you run outside the channel the depth changes pretty fast!!!
hope this helps ya out
good luck and let us know how you do
and welcome to the site from s.e. mo
Thanks for the info. A friends' family that we are meeting will be camping at the state park below clearwater dam. They said Corps of Engineers have put in brush piles in the rescent years. Does anyone know about that? Doesn't sound like the best crappie lake, but I am going to try to make the best of it.

Dont get me wrong. You can catch some good crappie in Clearwater, they are just far and few between. You will catch alot of short fish.
