Default how old do you need to be to go with daddy

I need some opinions. I am new dad, beautiful baby boy. He's a real keeper to. The thing is I want to go fish'n and take him along.
How old would you suggest? Someone said the other day, " better wait til he can swim". Makes sense, sure don't wanna hurt the little fella. His mama'd kill me. LOL

Oh yeh, I fish in a SeaArk 20'72 so its big enough to feel safer about and its narrow river fish'n
This only my opinion, but nothing you can say will change my mind. That makes it a FACT.

    Default My personal opinion

I think you need to wait until he starts playing with his pole....

    Then you'll know he's ready! :D

Congratulations. My oldest son had my grand daughter swimming about the same time she was learning to walk. She took to the water like a fish. It really amazed me.

I got a pic of my son at about 18 to 24 months standing on the rocks by the river reeling in a trout. As long as he is safe take him with you is my opinion. I am going to take him out this year fishing when they start running up the creeks around here (striper fishing), he is 4 now. Can not wait for it to warm up enough to take him to the pond which I would highly recommend doing. Take plenty of snacks with you and if he want to feed all the bait to the fish let him. Just make sure he is the center of the action and is having fun!! You will have a partner for life that way. This is just one Dad's experience and opinion.:D Good luck
PS Don't buy him a rod and reel you would not use.!!!
If in doubt, cross their eyes!!

First of all, congradulations. I remember my dad taking me when I was 5, maybe 4, I can't swear on 4 though. You have a big boat and he'll be in a lifejacket. The sooner he learns to swim the better. We taught our daughter to swim before she was 15 months, maybe sooner. Every year we would have her in a swimming class till she was about 13 years old.

I think I'm going to get her to teach me to swim. I swim like a rock.

my nephew was a boat well before he could walk - he is 6 now and he is an old veteran of the sea - I would not suggest you and him on the water for a while but if mom or grandpa is with you I think it cannot be too early

When he is walking, talking and potty trained maybe sooner if mamma goes. Take drinks, snacks some of his toys. Take momma too. Do not fish, help him and momma catching something is good blue gill are usually catchable. Short trips, some times they have more fun playing than fishing. Most important lots of love and Patience. PFDS and I want to drive the boat daddy please. Granddaddies and Grandmommas like to be part of this maybe not at the same time. Lots of pictures share with the board. Will be some of your best memories. lol
    Today is a great day

I have to agree with ribit, do not fish make a special trip just so that he can fish and drive the boat. That is the way it has to be with my son also he is 4. there are 2 types of fishing trips, those when he wants to fish and those when I want to fish.

    have fun.
