Only use a barbed collar jig if you're going to use a plastic grub or similar plastic.
Great site!
I got away from Crappie fishing for a decade when I got caught up in all the bass and walleye hoopala...but I'm back to what I like best.
Anyhow, my question is on jig heads for use with a jig/minnow combination when spider rigging.
Should I use "barbless" jigs - I'm not talking about the hooks, I'm talking about the jighead itself. Seems cleaner to use one without.
Does it matter?
Thanks in advance for your opinions.
Look for my upcoming reports (good or bad) in the Wisconsin section.

I have used both fished with a minnow. I don't really think the fish know the difference.
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.

If you're more comfortable fishing with barbless just mash the barb down, but I don't think many here worry too much about it.

If your just using a lead head with a minnow on, I don't see how it would make any difference at all, other than what you prefer. If you going to use plastics, a collar will help the body of the bait stay in tact after a fish.
