It really depends on what type of fishing you're going to do. Long pole for doodlin or short rod for casting?

well i like to straight line useing a slip bobber most of the time. thanks
The pole I like to use is the Tuff-Lite Crappie Master by b'n'm. It is telescopic and has line guides and a reel seat. You can attach any little ultralight reel to it (you don't really need them for their drag, etc.). Take a look at the b'n'm website. https://secure.redmagnet.com/bnmpole...67&SubCatID=22
I just use the fly rods that are not being used for trout at the time. Have a couple of Diawa "under spins" for them. Works really good for the wife and I.
A gun in hand is a lot better than a cop on the phone.
Wally Marshall 8' pro series rod with Quantum hypercast HPL10 reel.
use A Sam Heaton 10' With Mid-size Spinning Reel---fish It With A slip Bobber
