I think I would give Mississipppi a hard look. And if the weather is good you could always make a trip and fish in Arkansas, Tennesse or Alabama if your goin to fish all winter with out too much of a drive.
I am considering spending the winter in some warm part of the country crappie fishing. I use to go to the BIG O but I hear it isn't very good since the hurricane. I would appreciate your recommendations!

Grizz, if you come to Arkansas, I can hook you up with some Crappie Condo waypoints on Lake Greeson, Lake Ouachita, and Degray Lake.

I would stay around Guntersville Alabama and fish the bridges. They have not failed me in over 25 years.
