Might be a problem on your end. This site has been fast for me all day.
Why is site so slow tonight. Click on a page header and get nothing, sometimes waiting 30seconds and sometimes longer for a response....

It could be one or more of several reasons.
Quite possibly, Slab was working on the site .... that's happened before. Also, you could have tried to access the site when your ISP was under a heavy use load. Your system could also be overloaded, and not enough memory to run all the tasks. It could also be that your system is full of junk & needs a "cleaning", or it could have a overload of cookies/malware/spyware files slowing it down. Some viruses can cause that, as well as some trojan programs.
If this was just an isolated incident .... chances are it was Slab or your ISP. If it's a recurring thing, even "occasionally" (and especially if at different times of the day) ... then it could be one of the other reasons.
I'm no computer geek, so this is all guesswork on my part ... with a little experience to draw from.
