    Default Chatt's gift

I've see kids get excited over gifts but nothing to compare when Chatt got this thong, he was so happy he was almost crying:D. Later, he wanted to model it for Huntcapn and me in the cabin but we feigned illness and quickly went to bed. Last we saw of Chatt, he was heading up to Ron and Lee's cabin with thong in hand about one am yelling something like "wake up for the fashion show".

Jim, you should of been a little more sociable & everybody would of put ya on a lot of fish! I think wiperhyper and his buddy cleaned 70 Saturday. There was quite a few 15in + crappies caught Friday. Yesser,,, still pretty high on my list of 'big fish lakes'. <*)}}}><

I certainly had a great time out there and want to thank the the ol' Chattester for his efforts for this shindig and showing me where to catch some fish on Thursday. After not having a bump all morning it was a delight to catch Hillsdale sized fish even if I had to drive four hours to locate them. Not only can he catch fish he fixes up a great skillet of spicy shrimp. The other two contributing cooks for the fish fry also deserve kudos, Frank for cooking the fish and the young Doug (huntcapn) for his delicious cherry concoction he baked. All the food and laughter was great.

The weather Saturday evening for the fish fry turned out great with a nice cooling south breeze which which was in stark contrast to the brutal heat experienced on Thursday and Friday evenings at that time.

Friday I was very satisfied with efforts and the decent fish caught in our boat until I saw (way to close up) the size and numbers of fish contributed by Chatt and ksfish99. :o I was even planning on taking some picture of slabby joe's and my contributions toward the fish fry but quickly changed my mind after seeing those other fish.

Again I want to say I had a great time out there fishing with Doug (for taking his boat since mine was in sick bay), Ron and Rick and getting to talk to others previously met. It was a hoot.

While out there I can say I observed a couple of things one the"Pareto's Principle - The 80-20 Rule" in action with 20 percent of the participants catching 80 percent of the fish and know they the 20 percentors had one heck of a fishing trip and congratulations are in order to wiperhyper and his fishing partner. Maybe one of these days I'll be able to join the 20 percenters group. My second observation was that the "Blind Squirrel" Theory does in fact exist.

I had a great time folks and am looking forwards to the next.

Knowing there was too many filets for the 'fish fry', Frank and me just kept 3 in the livewell to weigh-in for the big fish pot Sat. Congratulations to LBM for edging out a westerner to claim the honors, dipping trees in Granite Creek. We thru back several 12inchers and caught prolly 35 over 10. Caught fish while out there in depths of 8ft to over 20ft. They were EVERYWHERE!!! EXCEPT WEST OF THE BLUFFS. Water color had, IMO, lots to do with the successful bites. Slow trolled bare breaks in 12 to 16ft & caught but the best bites came from brush. Dropping minners down and a slow lift on KY riggs, in the piles, would produce almost every time. It was HOT when the wind dropped Friday but, dats when we hit the bigguns. Tinkin about umbrellas for the seats to shade the biting flies Great time with FANTASTC fishing (the carp :D) will be in my memories forever. <*)}}}><

Big D and I had one heck of a time as well. Many thanks to chatt for putting things together and perhaps more importantly for introducing to Mike and Marilyn. Guys if you ever get to Glen Elder to fish or hunt or whatever you have got to stay at M and M Lodging. i know Chatt has talked about their accomadations on here before but he didn't say near enough. They have two trailer houses that are NICE and furnished with EVERYTHING you could ever want or need. I mean for cryin out loud there is a bar attached to the one we stayed in. You will not meet two nicer folks than Mike and Marilyn either. Okay, now on to the lake what a crappie fishery! The state marks the brushpiles you put on the KY rig and start sackin em in. We had 30 or so friday, 70 on saturday and 21 on sunday in a half day. I am sure our average for the weekend was 12 inches and we had at least six that were 15. I really enjoyed talking with all the regulars and meeting a few newbies. Congrats go to LBM saturday for taking the big fish award. A better person could not have won. We were disqualified for what I am still not sure( wish someone would let me in on the joke). But I can promise everyone we did not cheat or break any rules. Great times, great food, great company, and GREAT FISHING. Never had a better midsummer trip in Kansas. Thanks to all and you are all welcome in my boat anytime.
