    Thomasville reports 65,975-gallon wastewater spill

The rain that fell Tuesday caused 65,975 gallons of untreated wastewater to spill in Thomasville.

The wastewater came from the East Davidson Pump Station and spilled into the South Hamby Creek in the Yadkin/Pee Dee River Basin. Heavy rains caused the spill, according to a press release from the City of Thomasville. The Thomasville Water Plant recorded 1.93 inches of rain Tuesday.

The Division of Water Quality was notified Wednesday and is reviewing the matter. For further information, contact the City of Thomasville at 475-4220.

State law requires municipalities, animal operations, industries and others who operate waste-handling systems to issue a news release when a spill of 1,000 gallons or more reaches surface waters.

    Buzz up!

Highrock Lake has got to be one of the richest lakes in the Southeast.

I know this was caused by Mother Nature, or so they say, but come on now, surely they would have taken measures to prevent this in anticipation of heavy rain. It's not like this is the first and only time it has rained heavily.

It started 1 year ago this month. Last year Thomasville gave the lake
5 more spill's after that, plus a fish kill (that they wouldn't own up too).
Lets hope they don't continue that pattern.
