    Default Night fishin' ????

Any of ou fellers or fellerettes ever use your Ipilot spot lock function as an anchor whilst night fishin? I don't own an anchor. Well, I have some that Brenda uses to "anchor" picnic table cloth.

I used my spot lock on a nightstalk and it worked good. It kept the boat within an a few yards of where I started fishing. The boat also stayed facing the same direction for the 4 hours I fished. With the trolling motor kicking off and on the bait fish didn't seem to move away from the boat. I believe the spot lock will work as long as the crappie are biting deep. All the crappie were at 12' to 18' depths and the boat was setting in 38' of water. Water was also clear and right at 90 degrees.

I would think---that as long as you puts a light in boat front so Ur pilot can see where to go & sit, it should work kinda nice.:D

The only time I tried the spot lock function was right after I got the new tm mounted. It was a pretty windy day and for whatever reason the gps would loose the satellite and the spot lock would just cut off and I'd be adrift, and pretty fast too.:o I've never tried it since then.
