Foam is cheap, not necessarily more sensitive. I've never seen a freshwater rod over $60 or $70 with a foam handle. I'm not saying they don't exist -- just never saw one.
Foam
Cork
Looking for some opinions on rods. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks

right! i had trouble picking up hits and strikes with my foam handled casting rod. this was an issue, especially when i had to detect hits from finicky 'gills. my cork handled spinning rod transfered stikes great! but i think it has something to do with the hardness of the cork: soft = poor strike detection hard = excellent strike detection

Cork all the way. Even better, get you a rod with a section of the handle removed, with the blank exposed. I have a few Wally Marshall rods like this, you can rest a finger directly on the blank of the rod and detect all strikes.
Cork a Must for me.
I'm sick of following my dreams. I'm just going to ask them where they're goin' and hook up with them later.
Cork for me except if its a trolling rod.
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.

I would rather have cork but if I find a good deal on a foam one, it's bought.
